Former Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang was fired "for cause" back in February, and now that he's gone, many of his players might be quick to follow. On Monday, the first big name officially announced plans to enter the transfer portal.

Stephen Osei becomes first Kansas State transfer portal exit

Stephen Osei wasn't a major part of the 2025-26 season. In total, he played just nine minutes over three games and did not appear in Big 12 conference play. Earlier reports indicate that news was first broken by League Ready, with Osei's expected departure breaking on March 30.

The second-year sophomore spent time in junior college before joining the Wildcats, playing a single season at Casper College in Wyoming before transitioning into his role with the Wildcats. He's not just the first to depart, but also the first to do so since the introduction of first-year head coach Casey Alexander.

At the time of publication, Alexander has already landed his first two recruits in Devin Hutcherson and Jaylen Alexander. Other former Belmont players, including Tyler Lundblade and Drew Scharnowski, have announced plans to enter the transfer portal but have not committed.

The transfer portal will officially open on April 6 following the conclusion of the NCAA March Madness tournament.
