Andre Davis, a sophomore wide receiver who was a major in-state recruiting win in the Class of 2023, has announced his decision to transfer, according to a post on his social media.
Davis, a 6-foot-4 wideout from Overland Park, Kansas, redshirted in 2023. He played in his first game in 2024 against UT-Martin, recording one catch for nine yards.
He was expected to provide depth as he continued to develop and compete for more playing time in 2025. His transfer comes amid reports of NCAA roster limits shrinking.
"After a lot of thought, prayer, and conversations with my family and coaches, I have decided to enter the transfer portal and explore new opportunities. I’m incredibly grateful for my time at K-State, the relationships I’ve built, and everything I’ve learned during my time here," Davis posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Coming out of high school, Davis held multiple Power Four offers from schools across the region, including Iowa State, Iowa, Kansas, Illinois, Minnesota, and Nebraska. His choice to stay close to home and play for the Wildcats was a significant recruiting boost at the time. He played an active role in engaging with other prospects on social media and helped energize the high school class.
Davis is the latest wide receiver to enter the portal, following freshmen Trae Davis and Zayden Martinez. The wide receiver room has undergone major turnover this offseason, losing familiar names like Keagan Johnson, Tre Spivey III, and Dante Cephus. However, the unit could be even stronger next season thanks to incoming transfers Jerand Bradley, Caleb Medford, and Jaron Tibbs, who are expected to step into key roles.
With the return of leading receiver Jayce Brown, the group may have the core needed to help balance an offense that was, at times, overly reliant on the running game last season. Budding star quarterback Avery Johnson has spoken highly of his new targets.
"I'm really excited for them," Johnson told SI.com. "From JB, Tibbs, Caleb, JD, and we got some up-and-coming freshmen. We've got some guys still ready to come in the summer. But just really excited for those guys. I'm just ready to get out there and throw some live routes with them and see how they can compete against our defense."
The Wildcats finished the 2024 season with a 9–4 record, capped by a thrilling 44–41 victory over Rutgers in their bowl game. They’ll kick off the 2025 season against Iowa State in Dublin, Ireland.
