Kansas State football’s second highest-rated high school recruit in the 2025 class has entered the NCAA transfer portal—without ever playing a snap for the Wildcats.

Noah King, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound defensive back from Hamilton, Ohio, officially entered the portal on Wednesday, according to multiple media reports.

King, who had been enrolled at Kansas State since January, went through offseason workouts with the team but never suited up in a game-day uniform.

A four-star recruit, King was ranked the No. 15 overall player in Ohio and the No. 34 cornerback in the nation by 247Sports.

His commitment last year was seen as a significant recruiting win for the Wildcats. He chose K-State over offers from several Power Four programs, including Nebraska, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

King was expected to at least contribute as a key depth piece in the Wildcats’ secondary and potentially challenge for playing time as a true freshman. His size, length, and athleticism made him a highly coveted prospect in the Midwest.

His sudden departure leaves a gap in K-State’s future defensive backfield and raises questions about what might have prompted his decision to leave so early in his college career.

According to The Kansas City Star, King was the first Kansas State signee from the state of Ohio since 2004, making his commitment—and now his transfer—all the more notable.

At this time, it’s unclear where exactly King intends to continue his football career.
