Kansas State Wildcats freshman wide receiver Trae Davis has plans to enter the transfer portal, according to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Davis did not record any stats in 2024, while redshirting the season. His transfer comes before a reported shrinking of rosters across the NCAA.

"I would like to start off by thanking God for this journey and allowing me to play football at the Division I level and all the blessings he has for me. I also would like to thank Kansas State, the coaching staff, and my teammates for bringing me in and caring for me. With that being said, I would like to say I will be officially entering my name in the transfer portal with 4 years of eligibility left," Davis said in the post.

The 5-foot-11, 164-pound receiver from Troup, Texas was a big recruiting victory last year for the coaching staff. According to his K-State bio, he was the 224th-best overall prospect in the nation for the Class of 2024 by On3, and the 36th-best player in the state of Texas.

Davis despite his speed, appeared to be one of the receivers not in the rotation for 2025 as the team added several players to revamp the room. The team was adamant this offseason about adding more quality targets for budding star Avery Johnson.

Last year, the team finished 9-4 overall and 5-4 in conference play, despite being picked as a preseason favorite. They defeated Rutgers 44-41 in their bowl game on Dec. 26.
