A former UNLV and Texas State running back is considering a move to Kansas State, according to media reports.

Greg Burrell, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound back from Las Vegas, Nevada, played last season with the Rebels before briefly transferring to Texas State this offseason. He is reportedly planning a visit to Manhattan, Kansas.

Burrell rushed for 366 yards and three touchdowns while appearing in 12 games in a crowded backfield. His season-high came against Utah Tech, where he racked up 101 yards on 11 carries.

Known for his quick burst and downhill running style, Burrell showed flashes of playmaking potential despite limited opportunities.

Out of high school, Burrell was a three-star prospect according to major recruiting services including 247Sports, Rivals, On3, and ESPN. He was ranked the No. 2 running back in Nevada by 247Sports. He originally committed to UNLV over offers from several Mountain West and Pac-12 programs.

A move to bolster the backfield would make sense for the Wildcats, with star D.J. Giddens heading to the NFL. That leaves Dylan Edwards and Joe Jackson as the only experienced backs in the system.

The team did add veteran Gabe Ervin Jr. from Nebraska via the portal, but he has struggled with injuries, and La’James White recently entered the transfer portal. Depth and durability are key concerns going into the 2025 season.

Kansas State finished last season 9–4 overall and 5–4 in conference play, despite being tabbed a preseason favorite. The Wildcats capped off their season with a 44–41 win over Rutgers in their bowl game on Dec. 26.
