Mason James, the top-ranked wide receiver in Oklahoma for the class of 2026, has narrowed his college choices to five — and Kansas State is firmly in the mix.
The four-star standout from Norman North High School announced Monday on social media that he’s down to Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and Washington.
James, listed at 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, is rated a 91 overall and ranked as the No. 37 wide receiver in the nation, per 247Sports Composite.
He posted a standout junior season with 56 catches for 1,233 yards and 17 touchdowns, showcasing his speed, route-running, and playmaking ability. He’s clocked a reported 4.5 in the 40-yard dash.
Kansas State has made recruiting wide receivers a priority, especially with rising star quarterback Avery Johnson at the helm. The Wildcats recently added transfers Jerand Bradley, Caleb Medford, and Jaron Tibbs to bolster the receiver room heading into 2025.
While James will be a tough pull with programs like Oklahoma and Texas in the picture, Kansas State continues to push for early traction.
In the NIL and transfer portal era, building strong relationships during high school recruitment can pay off — even if a player chooses a different path initially.
Should James explore a transfer later in his career, the Wildcats could be well-positioned to re-engage.
