Things are moving in the right direction for Kansas State football in the recruiting. The Wildcats have reportedly scheduled visits from a pair of top prospects, including the No. 2 quarterback in this year's class.
Kansas State football expecting visits from Jake Nawrot and Cooper Ohnmacht.
According to Rivals, Nawrot ranks as the No. 2 quarterback prospect in this season's class. He's the 32nd overall prospect, dually ranked by 247Sports as the sixth-best player at the position.
A native of Arlington Heights, he completed 71% of his passes and threw for over 3,000 yards and 41 touchdowns last season. He wasn't just lethal through the air, either.
Nawrot also rushed for eight touchdowns, the most by any quarterback on the roster in his junior year. He's also previously played in Elite 11 competition in Indianapolis.
The Wildcats are the only Big 12 school with an offer extended his direction. If his production continues into next season, that's likely to change in a hurry. His official visit is scheduled for April 9. At the time of publication, no Crystal Ball prediction is available.
Cooper Ohnmacht looking ahead to June visit with Kansas State
Unlike Nawrot, Ohmacht's visit will have to wait a little while. The junior receiver just completed his third season catching 52 passes for 755 yards.
He's currently the top prospect in the same class, and stands as the ninth-rated athlete in the country. Ohmacht has also clocked minutes on the defensive side of the ball.
Kansas State is one of three Big 12 schools with offers on the table, including Iowa State and Kansas. Other offers include Penn State, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and Louisville.
Current Crystal Ball Predictions are set on head coach Matt Campbell and the Nittany Lions.
Other accolades, key notables brought in by recruiting prospects
If he lands at Kansas State, Nawrot would be the first top quarterback prospect to land with the Wildcats from an in-state school since current starter Avery Johnson came out of Maize back in 2023.
He would likely be a frontrunner for the starting role after Johnson's senior season in 2026. As for Ohmacht, a decision would mean joining an already crowded receiving core in his first year.
Whether or not playing time is on the table depends on development in his first spring camp. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, that's still another year down the road. Right now, the primary focus shifts on the current returners, and incoming transfers.
