Kansas State basketball commit Ashton Magee has reopened his recruitment and will now consider other options, according to a post on social media.
Magee, a 6-foot-7 forward from Ellisville, Miss., is a three-star prospect who had chosen the Wildcats over Ole Miss and several smaller programs, citing a strong connection with the coaching staff.
He says he wants to fully reassess his options before making a final decision.
βI would like to thank Kansas State University and the coaching staff for recruiting me. However, through much prayer and conversations with the ones closest to me, I have decided to reopen my recruitment," Magee said in a social media post.

Magee likely would have added depth as an athletic wing who defends, rebounds, and gets out in transition.
The move is the latest news about head coach Jerome Tangβs 2025 roster, which is undergoing a full rebuild following a disappointing 2024β25 season.
The Wildcats return only four players from last season: point guard David Castillo, guard CJ Jones, and forwards Mobi Ikegwuruka and Taj Manning.
Kansas State has recently secured commitments from Abdi Bashir, a 6-foot-7 sophomore guard from Omaha, Nebraska, and Khamari McGriff, a transfer forward from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
The Wildcats finished the 2024β25 season with a 16β17 overall record and a 9β11 mark in Big 12 play, tying for ninth in the conference. They missed the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year.
