Kansas State women's basketball lands highest-ranked commitment in program history
Jeff Mittie has just brought in the best commitment to Kansas State's women's basketball program ever.
With all the excitement of football season and big wins over ranked opponents, something happened with women's basketball that went a bit unnoticed but was very important.
On Friday, five-star recruit Jordan Speiser in the Class of 2025 announced her commitment to Kansas State women's basketball.
The Warrenton, Missouri native chose to stay close to home by going to Kansas State, choosing the Wildcats over other big-name programs such as Iowa, TCU, North Carolina, and Ohio State. The 6-foot-1 shooting guard averaged 22.9 points per game, 9.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.8 steals during her junior season last year.
Before her commitment, Speiser talked about how she wanted to be somewhere she was comfortable with the coaching staff and somewhere that felt like home.
Speiser was honored as Missouri's Gatorade Player of the Year for the 2023-2024 season. She scored in double digits in all 30 games of her junior season and had 14 double-doubles.
Speiser is a top 20 recruit in the Class of 2025 and is Kansas State's highest-ranked commitment in program history.
Even though the Wildcats won't have Speiser this season, she will be coming into the program at just the right time. This is state player Ayoka Lee's final season at Kansas State and with Gabby Gregory gone this season and Serena Sundell most likely leaving after the 2024-2025 season, Speiser will be a fresh face who could get immediate playing time.
