Kansas State Wildcat news: Skylar Thompson named NFL starter, Dylan Edwards gets honors
Kansas State fans see yet another familiar face playing on the NFL stage on Sundays for the foreseeable future. Former Wildcat quarterback Skylar Thompson has officially been named the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins in place of the injured Tua Tagovailoa.
Thompson stepped in for Tagovailoa against the Buffalo Bills during the Dolphins Thursday Night Football game in Week 2. Tagovailoa took yet another hit to the head and was ruled out with a concussion placing an already out-of-hand game on Thompson's shoulders.
This is Thompson's third season with the Dolphins after being drafted in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft. After a mini-bye and a full week of practice with the starters, there is hope Thompson will feel more comfortable with the offense until news of Tagovailoa is released about his return, or if there will be one.
Dylan Edwards receives Big 12 Honors after big Week 3 play
Dylan Edwards looks like a purple streak during a punt return against Arizona on Friday night. After fielding a punt on the Wildcat's third drive of the game, Edwards turned on the Jets and, with the help of one key block, was suddenly in the end zone in the blink of an eye.
Kansas State now has 63 punt/kick returns for a touchdown since 2005, which leads all of FBS. The Big 12 decided to reward Edwards for the big play, naming him the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 3.

The world of college football is cutthroat, as some players are already on the hot seat. Both the Florida Gators and the Florida State Seminoles have a losing record in the first three weeks of the season for the first time since 1956. Gator head coach Billy Napier is probably fearing for his job right now as fans are circling for him to be fired.
