Dylan Edwards turns on the jets to add to Kansas State's FBS-leading punt return TDs
Dylan Edwards is fast and not just your average speed fast, but incredibly fast.
Since 2005, Kansas State has led the FBS with 61 kick/punt returns touchdowns, well now make that 62.
After getting the first stop by either defense in the second half of the No. 20 Arizona vs. No. 14 Kansas State matchup, Edwards stood down the field ready to field the punt. Now this wasn't the greatest punt in the world as it took a Kansas State bounce and instead of letting the ball go, Edwards fielded the ball.
After getting a big block from a teammate, Edwards turned the corner and turned on the jets. There was no one on the Arizona special teams that was able to get close to Edwards until about the 20-yard line when defensive lineman Chubba Ma'ae tried his hardest to grab Edwards, but it was too late, all Edwards saw was seven points.
Edwards was a pickup for the Wildcats in the offseason when he hit the portal coming out of Colorado. Edwards is a Kansas kid who always wanted to go to Kansas State with quarterback Avery Johnson. Johnson and Edwards grew up as childhood best friends and when they were deciding on where to play college ball, Johnson chose the Wildcats and Edwards chose the Buffaloes.
Once Edwards hit the portal, Johnson did everything to make sure Edwards was given a campus visit so he could show his childhood best friend what he was missing out on in Manhattan. Edwards made his decision pretty quick to transfer to K-State and boy are the Wildcats happy about that one.
The duo of DJ Giddens and Edwards in the backfield is proven to be electric and now with Edwards returning punts, K-State could improve on their FBS-leading kick/punt return touchdowns.
