Kansas State has made it very clear they are not listening to the preseason noise

Kansas State football was picked to finish second in the Big 12 Media Preseason Polls, but the Wildcats are being very clear on what their focus is on right now.

Kansas State was picked to finish second in the Big 12 Media Preseason Polls and narrowly behind Utah who was picked to finish first in the polls. However, even though they were picked to finish second in the conference, they did not have a single player named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team.

Now this may sound confusing because how could a team that seemingly is good enough to be picked second in the conference not have a single player on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team?

Well, that is the question a lot of people are asking themselves. However, those at K-State including all the players that attend the Big 12 Media Days in Las Vegas are choosing to block out the noise and focus on playing football this season.

"Don't pay a lot of attention to it, to be honest with you," Klieman said during his Big 12 Media Days press conference, "Everybody sees it, but it's not something we talk about an awful lot. I hope it shows people the overall depth and value of our roster and how important our role players are."

Klieman did not seem to care too much about the preseason rankings or the preseason team, his goal is to go out there and win a Big 12 Championship and hopefully a National Championship after that.

The players at K-State, however, are looking at the rankings as motivation instead. When asked how K-State could be the team to hold up that Big 12 trophy at the end of the season, Johnson had a clear answer as to where to start.

"I feel like the biggest thing is not getting too caught up in the preseason rankings and not looking too forward into the season," Johnson said. "Right now our focus is on UT Martin and then after that is gonna be Tulane, so it's just taking every week one week at a time."

The other players that attended Big 12 Media Days were Marques Sigle, Hadley Panzer, Austin Moore, and Brandan Mott. All three guys had the same thoughts on what those in the preseason rankings meant to them.

"I've been an underdog my whole life, so this just gives me motivation," Sigle said.

"I don't know who is in charge of that, but you use that as a little motivation," Mott said.

Linebacker Austin Moore chose to take the preseason rankings and praise his head coach for his coaching abilities and the team he has put together.

"It just says how good Coach Klieman is and how good we play together as a team," Moore said. "We're definitely using it as motivation and using it to play with a chip on our shoulder."

It seems clear that K-State isn't about what people think about them in the preseason, they are working on looking ahead to the season and taking it one week at a time.
