Kansas State basketball adds another player, but this one is a familiar face

After weeks of saying David N'Geussan will not be returning to Kansas State basketball next season, the fifth-year senior proves this sports writer wrong by announcing his comeback.

The Wildcats added a veteran to their squad after losing six players to the transfer portal. After not knowing whether he would return or not, fifth-year senior David N'Guessan will be returning for his final year of eligibility with the Wildcats.

N'Guessan waited till the last minute to announce his return to Kansas State, but it couldn't have come at a better time for the Wildcats. Kansas State has lost so many guys to the transfer portal and while head coach Jerome Tang is doing his best to bring in replacement, having veteran talent on the team will go a long way.

The 6-foot-9 forward out of the Netherlands saw a lot of time on the court for the Wildcats in the 2023-2024 season, constantly switching out with fellow big man Will McNair Jr., who is not returning to the Wildcats.

With the transfer of Baye Fall from Arkansas to joining Tang's squad, N'Guessan will be the perfect teammate to help him learn the ropes. Kansas State will now have their depth in their big man spot again with N'Gessan filling that veteran starting role the Wildcats desperately need right now.

Arthur Kaluma could still return to Kansas State if he doesn't make it through the NBA Draft process, so if he doesn't that would be two starters returning for the Wildcats. Tang knows how to put a squad of transfers together, but having veteran talent on the team who knows Tang and his coaching style is always helpful.

The news of N'Guessan staying could not have come at a better time as the Wildcats are moving forward with a lot of new talent for the 2024-2025 season.
