EA Sports CF25 is almost here, but how much money is Kansas State really making?
If you are a college football fan and a fan of video games, you are probably anxiously awaiting the arrival of EA Sports College Football 25 to come out in July. You might have even already pre-ordered it.
EA Sports has been dropping hint after hint for quite some time now. They have shown who will be participating, dropping that athletes can opt in or out of the game with their name, image, and likeness, the cover art for the game, and finally the date the game would become available.
We know what players will be making with their NIL money, but it is now known what the schools will be making off the game, and the numbers might surprise you.
EA Sports is choosing to pay schools based on a point system. That point system is based on he number of times a school has finished in the top 25 in the past 10 years. So the more times you finished in the top 25, the more money you get.
Here is the breakdown of points for each tier:
- Tier 1: 6-10 points
- Tier 2: 2-5 points
- Tier 3: 1 point
- Tier 4: 0 points
Teams in the top tier are making almost $1 million from being in the game. Teams in tier 2 are making almost $40,000 less at almost $60,000. Tier 3 teams make about $20,000 less than tier 2 teams at almost $40,000. Finally, tier 4 makes the least amount with only about $10,000.
Kansas State falls in the tier 2 category, so they will be making almost $60,000 from the game, The Wildcats have finished in the top 25 only three times in the last 10 years in 2023, 2022, and 2014.
Only two Big 12 teams are in tier 1 making almost $1 million and that is Oklahoma State and Utah. Nine Big 12 teams, including Kansas State, fall in tier 2, four fall in tier 3, and only one team falls in tier 4.
When will EA Sports College Football 25 be released?
EA Sports College Football 25 is set to be released on July 19 for both Playstation and Xbox. Fans can preorder the game now until the release date of the game. The game will feature all 134 FBS programs along with players that have opted into using their NIL.
