Dante Cephas came to Kansas State as a transfer from Penn State and Kent State before that. In his time at Kent State, Cephas' best season came in 2021 when he had 1,240 yards on 82 receptions averaging 15.1 yards a catch and nine touchdowns.

At Penn State, however, Cephas was lost in the mix, most likely resulting in his want to transfer. He liked Kansas State and the program Chris Klieman has built and chose to play for the Wildcats in his final season.

Cephas is important to this team because the wide receiver core is going to have a whole new look with a whole new passer. With Johnson behind center as the new full-time starter, it can be comforting to have a veteran receiver on the field who knows how to read defenders and what the quarterback may want. With pass catchers like Ben Sinnott and Phillip Brooks gone, Johnson will need sure trusted hands out there catching his passes and Cephas has that experience.
