5 Wildcats that will be crucial for Kansas State football in 2024
With the transfer portal officially closed, for the most part, college teams have their roster for next year. With each team losing players and bringing in new faces, rosters are meant to look different next year and Kansas State is no different.
The Wildcats are set to have a whole new look next season, especially now that they are officially stepping into the Avery Johnson era. Chris Klieman will be running a new type of offense next season not just with Johnson at the helm but with a whole new offensive line look as well.
So heading into the 2024 season, who will be some of the most important players who will need to perform well in order for this team to succeed? Some are returning players and others are transfer, but all will be crucial for this 2024 football season.
The Wildcats lost a lot of their firepower in the secondary to the transfer portal with Kobe Savage and Will Lee III leaving. They also lost a lot of depth by losing players who were waiting in the wings for an opportunity to get on the field. However, senior safety Marques Sigle is staying in Manhattan.
In 2023, Sigle was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and Honorable Mention Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year after transferring to Kansas State from North Dakota State University. Sigle had a solid first season with the Wildcats recording 63 total tackles, three tackles for loss, one interception, one quarterback hit, one blocked kick, and nine pass breakups.
In 2024, Sigle will be the leader in the middle of the field most likely taking Savage's position meaning he will be helping run the secondary. This is why Sigle is one of the more important players for Kansas State because his experience in 2023 will help with his play in 2024 in a defense that will have a lot of new players in new positions.
