Kansas State football secured its first quarterback commit under Collin Klein, adding another dynamic arm to a future room currently headlined by this season's projected starter Avery Johnson. Now, the focus is on his future with the program upon his arrival.

Class of 2027 QB Cam Kruse announces Kansas State decision

Cam Kruse, another dangerous quarterback prospect out of Tennessee, announced on Tuesday that he's committed to play for the Wildcats. He's currently an unranked prospect by many major recruiting outlets, but shouldn't be overlooked.

His junior season at Page high School, Kruse didn't disappoint. Earlier reports by the Topeka Capital-Journal indicate that he threw for 2,264 yards and 35 touchdowns, also rushing for six scores on the ground. Maintain that level of dominance, and there's a real chance at next season's starting role.

His decision was first announced on X, reading "Go Cats! Excited for the next chapter."

Kruse's projected future with Wildcats

As long as he remains committed to Kansas State, Kruse is set to arrive in Manhattan two seasons from now. Supporters of current quarterback Avery Johnson can rest easy knowing his spot won’t be threatened, as Kruse is expected to join the program after Johnson’s eligibility runs out.

In that class, however, Kruse isn't alone. He's the lone quarterback commit, but not the only player. Some other big names include safety Julian Elzey, linebacker prospect Colton McComb and tight end Ben Hynek.

Should he earn reps, Kruse won't have any shortage of receiving targets. His mobility makes him a similar option to Johnson, with the only difference being that he might not have to play the backup role.
