Kansas State outfielder Keegan O’Connor has been named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after a monster performance that saw him tie the program’s single-game home run record.
The left fielder crushed the ball in K-State’s 18–4 blowout win last Friday, hitting three home runs to tie the program’s single-game record. He became just the fifth player in school history to go deep three times in one game — a feat that hadn’t been accomplished since 2006.

O’Connor finished 5-for-6 on the night, tallying six RBIs and four runs scored. He came within a grand slam of a home run cycle and fell just a double short of hitting for the cycle overall.
The graduate student slashed .476/.500/1.048 with five extra-base hits and a team-high eight RBIs for the week. His OPS soared to 1.548 over the stretch, making him one of the most dangerous bats in the Big 12 right now.
With 15 home runs on the season, O’Connor leads the Wildcats and ranks second in the conference. His nine home runs in Big 12 play are the most of any player this season, and he’s now just one long ball shy of tying K-State’s single-season record.
Kansas State returns to Tointon Family Stadium for its final regular-season home series, hosting No. 7 West Virginia starting Friday at 6 p.m. CT. The Wildcats will celebrate Senior Day during Sunday’s finale, honoring eight players and three staff members.
