After racking up nearly 2,800 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns last fall, Wolfe City (Texas) running back HD Davis is taking his talents to the Big 12 — committing to Kansas State on Tuesday.

Davis, a 6-foot, 205-pound junior, announced his decision on social media after taking an official visit to Manhattan over the weekend.

“Beyond excited to announce my commitment to Kansas State! Can’t wait to join the Wildcat family!” Davis posted on X.

The Texas All-State selection was named district Offensive MVP in 2023 and chose K-State over offers from Air Force, Yale, Navy, Rice, Tulsa, and others. He is currently unrated by 247Sports.

Known for his downhill running style and surprising burst through the hole, Davis combines power, vision, and balance, making him a tough tackle at the second level.

Last season, Davis rushed for 2,789 yards on 267 carries while scoring 33 touchdowns for the Wolfe City Wolves.

Kansas State extended an offer in February and maintained steady contact throughout the spring. Davis visited campus earlier this year and returned for an official visit last weekend, ultimately deciding to shut down his recruitment.

He becomes the second running back in the Wildcats’ 2026 class, joining 3-star athlete Tanner West (Katy, Texas).

With current backs Dylan Edwards and Joe Jackson expected to lead the backfield in 2025 — and Georgia Tech transfer Antonio Martin Jr. adding depth — the Wildcats are continuing to build out their future backfield.

K-State is coming off a 9–4 season, including a 44–41 bowl win over Rutgers. The program also saw starter DJ Giddens selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts after back-to-back 1,200-yard seasons.
