Kansas State is making early moves in the 2027 recruiting race, offering a scholarship to in-state standout Cooper Ohnmacht — the No. 1 player in Kansas and one of the fastest-rising prospects in the country.
Ohnmacht, a 6-1, 180-pound wide receiver and defensive back from Great Bend High School, earned the offer after a strong showing at K-State’s camp on June 8.
He announced the news on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “After a great camp and conversation with @CoachKli, I’m extremely blessed and excited to receive an offer from @KStateFB #EMAW!”

A breakout sophomore campaign put Ohnmacht firmly on the recruiting radar.
He hauled in 35 receptions for 466 yards and 11 total touchdowns, while also racking up 40 tackles and a tackle for loss on defense. He was named first-team All-WAC and took home Underclassman of the Year honors.
Ohnmacht’s athleticism jumps off the tape. He’s got great body control, quick bursts of speed, and the knack for catching tough balls over defenders. As a receiver, he runs routes smoothly and makes big plays after the catch.

On defense, he reads the game well and closes in fast, whether covering a receiver or making a hit. With his track speed and jumping ability, it’s easy to see why he’s drawing so much attention.
Rated a four-star by 247Sports, Ohnmacht carries a 90 overall rating and is ranked the No. 9 athlete in the class of 2027. He already holds an offer from Big 12 rival Iowa State and is generating major buzz nationally.
Ohnmacht however isn’t just a football star. He’s a dominant force in track and field, too — capturing back-to-back 5A triple jump state titles. He defended his title this spring with a massive leap of 47 feet, 1.25 inches, winning by more than a foot and earning Track Athlete of the Year honors.
Kansas State’s early offer positions them as a serious player in the recruitment, but with national attention beginning to heat up, landing Ohnmacht’s commitment won’t be easy.
And with national powers now circling, the Wildcats will need to fight to keep this star close to home.
