Star guard Serena Sundell receives invitation to 2025 WNBA Draft

Guard Serena Sundell has received an invitation to the 2025 WNBA Draft, according to radio station WIBW in Topeka, Kansas.

Sundell, a 6-foot-2 inch senior from Maryville, MO, led the nation in assists averaging 7.3 per game and scoring 14.1 points per game. She was an AP All-America Honorable Mention.

The Wildcats this past season made it to the Sweet Sixteen, losing to the USC Trojans 67-61. Sundell totaled 22 points, six assists and six rebounds in the loss.

According to her K-State bio, Sundell set the school record for career starts (139) and career games played (139). whiie finishing second in school history for career minutes played (4,574).. She tied for third in school history for minutes per game and is sixth on the K-State career scoring list (1,771). She was the 14th player in program history with 1,500 or more points in a career. and the first player in Big 12 history and the 14th in NCAA Division I WBB history (1981-present) with 1,700 or more points and 800 or more assists, according to the program.

Replacing her and star center Ayoka Lee will be a tall task for basketball Coach Jeff Mittie next season.

The Wildcats finished 28-8 on the year and 13-5 in conference, tied for fourth., despite being a preaseason favorite. They were an impressive 17-1 at home.

Sundell now has the option of attending the WNBA Draft in New York City on Monday, April 14. The draft will air at 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
