There's excitement looming ahead of mid-July following TBT's announcement that Michael Beasley is joining this year's Purple Reign team. Not only that, but both the Kansas State alumni and their former rivals, JHX Hoops (Kansas alumni) will face off in a three-game Sunflower State challenge.
Kansas State alumni likely have what it takes to best JHX Hoops
Last season's matchup favored the Kansas Alumni in an impressive 59-57 elam ending, sealed by former Jayhawks forward LaGerald Vick. This season, that level of disappointment can't be the case. Not only are the former Wildcats back, but they're back with new life.
Beasley likely won't be the only familiar face, either. At the time of publication, he's the only one listed on the official TBT page, but the events are still roughly two months out. In previous years, rosters have consisted of names like Jacob Pullen, Cartier Diarra and Justin Edwards.
Who wins each game between former Wildcats and Jayhawks?
The opening game was officially announced as being played inside Bramlage Coliseum on July 21. Given that it's in front of the home crowd, and the first game either team has played inside the Octagon of Doom, this one likely falls in Purple Reign's favor.
Fans can probaly expect a high-energy, intense, heated competiton between both rosters. Similar to last year's elimination game, it could fall within a single score.
Game 2 is where things get interesting. It's scheduled for 8 p.m. inside Lee Arena in Topeka, Kansas, on the campus of the NAIA Washburn Ichabods. For the fun of it, consider that game 1 goes to Purple Reign, it's likely they take the second game at the neutral site.
That eliminates any need for a third game, or unexpected return to Bramlage. Should it go the distance, there's not doubt that the home crowd in game 3 will let the former rivals win on Kansas State's home floor. Expect the Wildcats alumni to win either 2-0, or 2-1.
