The 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl is quickly approaching. The NFL announced who the coaches would be for the 75th Anniversary Reese's Bowl. This is the second year the NFL is doing the "Coach Up" format allowing assistant coaches and coordinators to step into a head coach position.
The NFL announced that the two coaches will be Jeff Ulbrich of the New York Jets and Terrell Williams of the Tennessee Titans.
Ulbrich just finished his third season with the Jets as their defensive coordinator. He played lineback for the University of Hawai'i and then in the NFL for 10 seasons as a linebacker with the San Fransisco 49ers.
Ulbrich started his coaching career with the Seattle Seahawks as a special teams assistant. After one year with the Seahawks, he moved to college to work for UCLA for two years. Ulbrich started as the assistant head coach/linebackers/special teams coach for one season and then transitioned to defensive coordinator for a season. He then made his way back to the NFL going to the Atlanta Falcons where worked as the linebackers coach for five years and the assistant head coach/linebackers coach in his last season.
During his time as the assistant head coach and linebackers coach, Ulbrich was elevated to be the interim defensive coordinator for the Falcons. After finishing that season, Ulbrich made the move to join Robert Saleh's staff as defensive coordinator.
Terrell Williams is currently the assistant head coach and defense/defensive line coach. Wiliams is in his sixth season in this position with the Tennessee Titans. This adds to his 26 seasons of coaching experience, 12 of them in the NFL. Williams played college ball at East Carolina as a nose guard.
Before going to the Titans, Williams coached the defensive line for the Miami Dolphins for three seasons. Before that, Williams started his professional coaching career with the Oakland Raiders also coaching the defensive line.
Two Kansas State players will be playing in the Senior Bowl on February 4 in Mobile, Alabama.
