Way-to-early Big 12 running back rankings: Can DJ Giddens take a step forward?

The running back position is an important one in the Big 12, and DJ Giddens is one of the best in the conference.

DJ Giddens had a spectacular 2023 season, especially having to fill the shoes of Deuce Vaughn. Giddens recorded 223 carries for 1,226 yards and 10 touchdowns along with averaging 5.5 yards per carry. Giddens is guaranteed to be the lead back for the Wildcats in 2024, but this season he will have a little more help in the running back room. Chris Klieman landed running back transfer Dylan Edwards from Colorado who was the Buffaloes leading rusher in 2023.

The 2024 season looks very bright for Giddens to grow more in this offense and be the player to lean on while young quarterback Avery Johnson is learning to be the full-time starter. Giddens ability to break through the line and shed tackles is what makes him one of the top running backs in the conference and there is a lot in store for Giddens in 2024.
