The Big 12 has officially announced the first-ever Big 12 Alumni Council which will make up 32 former student-athletes from the new 16-team conference. The council will be used to share their opinions and insight on matters such as brand building, athlete relations, storytelling, digital content, and many more topics.

Each school will be represented by two former student-athletes and make up a 32-man council. Kansas State will be represented by two fan-favorite student-athletes from football and women's basketball. Former football star Tyler Lockett and women's basketball star Kindred Wesemann Orpin will represent the Wildcats on this first-ever council.

Lockett who was inducted into Kansas State's Ring of Honor back in 2022 holds numerous records at within the football program and goes down as one of the best players in Kansas State football history. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2014 and is about to enter his 10th year in the NFL as one of the Seahawk's top receivers.

Wesemann Orpin played women's basketball for K-State from 2013 to 2017 and was a three-time Academic All-Big 12, a 2017 First Team All-Big 12, is fifth in program history in 3-pointers made, 18th in program history in career points, and 10th in program history in career assists.

Not every school chose one male and one female to represent their program on the council, but the Wildcats did. The importance of having the representation of women's sports is big as it allows women's sports to have a voice on the council as well.

The alumni chosen to be on the council will also receive special amenities such as networking access to the Big 12's Business Advisory Board for professional networking, league support of council member's community initiatives, media opportunities on behalf of the league, and VIP access to all Big 12 Championships and Conference events.

The Big 12 Conference will officially expand to 16 teams in August and once the conference officially expands, the council will take effect.
