Kansas State basketball in almost every way possible had a down season in 2023-2024. Even though the Wildcats were fortunate enough to make the NIT at least, the season ended on a sour note and it seemed like everyone jumped ship.
After a busy offseason and only one returning starter, Jerome Tang knows who his Wildcats will face in the 2024-2025 season.
The Wildcats lost a lot of key players in the offseason, but Tang was diligent in stopping the bleeding and bringing in as many players as he lost through the transfer portal. For basically the third year in a row, Tang will have a completely new starting lineup heading into the season.
After taking over the coaching job in 2021, Tang led the makeshift Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament and all the way to the Elite Eight. Unfortunately, Tang and the Wildcats fell back down to Earth in the 2023-2024 season by missing the NCAA Tournament after being on the bubble for the majority of the season.
So heading into the 2024-2025 season, Tang is hoping to see improvement in a lot of areas, but one be may work more than any is ball security. The Wildcats led the Big 12 in turnovers last season and taking care of the basketball is key to winning games.
So with a new team in tow, the Wildcats are set to face every team in the Big 12, but unlike in years past, they will not play every team twice.
Kansas State will have a home-and-away series against five teams, a home-only series against five teams and an away-only series against five teams.
So here is the list of the Wildcats 2024-2025 Big 12 opponents.
Home-and-away series
- Arizona State
- Cincinnati
- Iowa State
- Oklahoma State
- Kansas (Sunflower Showdown)
Home-only series
- Arizona
- Colorado
- Houston
- Texas Tech
- West Virginia
Away-only series
- Baylor
- BYU
- UCF
- TCU
- Utah
With the addition of the four Pac-12 teams, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah, the Big 12 is only going to get tougher. Kansas State will have to take big steps forward from last season to get their second NCAA Tournament appearance under Tang.
