There has not been a lot of turnover in the head coach position at Kansas State since 1988. There have been a total of three head coaches in the last 30 years, Bill Snyder, Ron Prince, and Chris Klieman.
However, the same can not be said about coordinator positions. There have been a total of four different defensive coordinators at Kansas State in the past decade, and even that number is lower than most.
The Wildcats have a history of a rough and tough defense that can stop any offense, but in years past, their offense has taken more center stage.
So which defensive coordinators have had the best time at Kansas State in the last decade, and which ones would fans love to forget?
Blake Seiler kind of gets the short end of the stick here by only being at Kansas State for one season, so he has a limited number of stats to go off of, but so did Scottie Hazelton. After Tom Hayes left Kansas State, Blake Seiler stepped into the defensive coordinator position and instead of the Wildcats having a lock down defense, they struggled to stop opponents from scoring.
In five of the seven losses that Kansas State suffered in 2018, the Wildcat defense allowed over 30 points to opponents. The defense allowed an average of 403.8 total yards per game and the secondary was where they struggled the most allowing 245.8 passing yards per game. Seiler lasted just one season in the role of defensive coordinator, however, some of that could have also been the turnover at the head coaching position.
