The Cyclones are a team I at first didn't think I would have on this list. Yes, they are ranked, and they are tied for No. 2 in the Big 12 standings, but nothing had truly impressed me yet with their play until I saw them play at home. Iowa State is a perfect 11-0 at home and you may ask how that is different than any other team that is undefeated at home, well it is different because they beat opponents by an average of almost 30 points a game.
Just like Houston, Iowa State has a stifling defense. The Cyclones have the second-ranked defense in the Big 12 allowing an average of 61.1 points per game to opponents. Looking at the rest of the season, they have six games left at home and six games away, so I would dare to say that those six home games are almost guaranteed wins.
If Iowa State wins say even half of the games away from home, which I think they could win almost all of, they will see their name on the board on Selection Sunday.
