Predicting how many Big 12 teams will make the NCAA Tournament
The Jayhawks always seem like a lock for the NCAA Tournament before the season even starts. Kansas currently has the longest active streak of consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances at 28. Known as a blue blood in college basketball, head coach Bill Self knows how to get his team ready to play after the regular season.
Kansas has hit a bit of a bump in the road this season. After an early loss to No. 4 Marquette, the Jayhawks went on a nine-game win streak before being taken down in Orlando by UCF. Since then, Kansas has looked more vulnerable than usual. A week and a half after the UCF loss, Kansas lost at West Virginia. Suddenly the Jayhawks have two losses early in Big 12 play, but are still currently ranked No. 7 in the top 25.
Do I think these losses will keep Bill Self and Kansas out of the tournament? Absolutely not, the Jayhawks are still good enough and are backed by their name and history to make it into their 29th NCAA Tournament appearance. Kansas is 100% a lock for the tournament and it would take a lot for them not to be.
