Kansas State Wildcat news: Jerome Tang's big overtime win, Ayoka Lee awarded honors

Kansas State men's basketball took down No. 9 Baylor 68-64 in overtime Tuesday night in Bramlage Coliseum. The Wildcats kept the game close the majority of the game, with the Bear never able to take a commanding lead. There were 13 lead changes and 11 ties, with the Wildcats only leading for a little over four minutes.

The Wildcats were able to hold to just 64 points, again showing their suffocating defense can win games. Cam Carter and Tylor Perry tied for the most points with 18 for the Wildcats, even with Carter fouling out with three minutes left in overtime. Jerome Tang is now 3-0 against his former team.

The Kansas State women's basketball team moved up in the rankings this week after beating No. 10 Texas. The Wildcats moved from No. 12 to No. 7, their highest regular season ranking since 2002. Ayoka Lee was also named the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week. K-State has the number-one-ranked defense in the Big 12 and moved to 17-1, 5-0 in the conference.

The Kansas State track and field team kicked off their season with the annual Kansas-Kansas Wichita State triangular meet in Lawrence, Kansas on Friday, January 12. The Wildcats brought home 12 victories from the meet. The Wildcats will travel to Texas Tech for the texas Tech Corky Classic Saturday, January 20.

The women's tennis team opens their season at home against Drake on Saturday, January 20. The Wildcats will host 10 matches at home this season. The Wildcats are projected to finish tenth in the Big 12 this season according to preseason rankings.

The K-State baseball team started spring practice to gear up for their season opener in February. The Wildcats are ranked No. 24 in D1 Baseball's preseason rankings.
