The Houston Cougars finished their inaugural season in the Big 12 with a 4-8 record, beating both Baylor and West Virginia. Houston fired their head coach Dana Holgorsen at the end of the season who had three losing seasons in his five years as head coach.

Houston hired Tulane's Willie Fritz who led the Green Wave to a American Athletic Conference title in 2022 and was runner-up to SMU in 2023. Fritz will join Houston in a conference that has two other teams he coached against just a year ago. I believe he will still have a lot to learn moving from a group of five conference to a Power five conference.

Kansas State played Houston in the 2023 season, shutting them out 41-0 in the first every matchup between these two teams. Even though the Wildcats will have to travel to Houston this season, I believe they will dominate once again. I give the Wildcats a 35-14 win over the Cougars in their their second-ever matchup.
