All-time series
- Kansas State leads the all-time series 21-12 over TCU
- Kansas State has a 9-4 record when playing TCU at home
- In their last matchup, TCU beat Kansas State in the Big 12 Tournament
Kansas State slightly favored
Kansas State is just a 1.5-point favorite in this matchup against TCU. The Horned Frogs hold the better record overall and in the Big 12, but Kansas State has been favored in almost every matchup this season when playing at home. The Wildcats definitely have a sixth man playing for them when they play at home with those K-State fans loud in the Octagon of Doom.
The over/under for the game is set at 144.5 and to be honest I am not sure which I would take. TCU has the third-best offense in the Big 12 while Kansas State has the tenth-best defense, but the Wildcats always play lockdown defense at home. I think I am going to take the over in this one because I think with the week off, Kansas State's defense will come out hot and put up good numbers.
Key matchups
I think the biggest matchup for the Wildcats will be against themselves. K-State has not been able to pull together a couple of wins since the beginning of conference play. The Wildcats seem to shoot themselves in the foot when they are playing with turnovers and bad fouls. If Kansas State can find a way to minimize turnovers, I think they would have a few more wins on the board and fewer losses.
While Tylor Perry had a great game Kansas, he struggled against BYU and got himself into foul trouble. I think this is a game he needs to bounce back and put together a complete game. Perry often finds himself with low-scoring first halves and then exploding in the second half. Imagine what it would be like if he put together a full-scoring game.
Prediction
This is a tough one because I believe they are two fairly evenly matched teams, but I think I am going to go with the spread on this one and say Kansas State will pull this one off. The Wildcats can pull even with TCU in conference play and get back to a .500 conference record.
I think it will be a close one in Manhattan, but the Wildcats will be able to pull this one off and get to keep that 9 conference wins goal alive.
