The reason for kicking Utah out is about the same reason for kicking Oklahoma State out. Utah is the biggest threat to Kansas State's Big 12 crown so getting them out of the way would make things a lot easier for the Wildcats.

If Utah was out of the way, Kansas State would have a very easy path to the Big 12 title. They can beat Arizona, and they have shown they have an advantage over Kansas.
