Preseason watchlists can mean absolutely everything to some guys and absolutely nothing to others. These watch lists are a benchmark for all players, so they know if they are named, they probably have a good benchmark, and if they aren't named, they know they have some work to do.

There are a lot of watchlists for awards that will be given at the end of the season, for almost every single position. There are a lot of Kansas State players that have been named to these watchlists for the awards including players like Avery Johnson, DJ Giddens, Austin Moore, and others.

Awards are not only given out for play on the field but also for what the players do off the field. There are awards for things such as academics, community service, and personal character.

So here is each Kansas State football player who was named to a preseason watch list and what award they could possibly win.

Avery Johnson

Maxwell Award: Outstanding player in college football

This is Johnson's first watch list he is named to in his career and it is a big one. The Maxwell Award is given to the most outstanding player in college football no matter what position. For Johnson to be on this watch list so early in his career is huge and he could be the first Wildcat since 2012 to be a finalist as Michael Bishop (1998) and Collin Klein (2012) are the only two players to be finalists for the award.

DJ Giddens

Maxwell Award: Outstanding player in college football
Doak Walker Award: Best running back

Giddens joins Johnson on the Maxwell Award watchlist. He has also been named to the Doak Walker Award watchlist which is given to the best running back in the country and Giddens proved he is definitely in the mix last season with his performance.

Dylan Edwards

Paul Hornung Award: Most versatile player in college football

Edwards is a new addition to the Wildcats this season transferring in from Colorado in the offseason. Edwards is a great all-around player and he is being recognized for that, and his ability to work with Johnson this year will be very fun to watch.

Austin Moore

Wuerffel Trophy: Award for community service
Bednarik Award: Defensive player of the year

Moore has been named to two watchlists, one for community service and one for being the defensive player of the year. Moore is one of the leaders on this team and has been named one of the team captains.

Uso Seumalo

Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award: Most Outstanding college football player of Polynesian ancestry

Seumalo is the final Wildcat named to a watch list as it is based on his Polynesian ancestry and his ability on the field.
