Chris Klieman had what some looked at as an impossible task of taking over a Kansas State program that only had success only one person, Bill Snyder.
Klieman not only chose to take on that impossible task, but he has been fairly successful in his time with the Wildcats. Klieman came into Manhattan and in his first season won eight games, more than anyone expected him to. It was a question as to how K-State would do under Klieman since he came from an FCS school and wondering how he would adjust to FBS.
Well in five seasons, Klieman has only had one losing season and that was back in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic when nothing was normal and the Wildcats only played 10 games. Klieman also has a Big 12 title under his name and is 39-24 overall right now at Kansas State.
Kansas State definitely wants to stay with Klieman for years to come, hence why they gave him a contract extension, but how much is Klieman making exactly?
How much does Chris Klieman get paid per year?
Chris Klieman is currently inked to coach at Kansas State till 2030. Klieman signed an 8-year extension with K-State after the 2022 season when the Wildcats brought home the Big 12 title over the then-undefeated TCU Horned Frogs.
When Klieman was hired in 2019, he signed a 6-year contract making $2.2 million a year with an increase of $200,000 each year of the deal. The 8-year extension that he signed in 2023 means he now makes $5.5 million a year, meaning he will make roughly $44 million.
Klieman has shown he can win in a program that only had one coach who knew how to win, and that was Bill Snyder. It is Klieman's program now and he is proving himself every season.
