Big 12 football power rankings after spring portal closes: Did Wildcats get better?
If you were to ask me three years ago if I would have Kansas in ranked sixth in the Big 12 power rankings, I would have thought you were crazy, but here we are. The Jayhawks have shown they can be a solid team in multiple seasons, but they still show that they can't quite beat the big dogs.
Head coach Lance Leopold is showing he can raise a program from the ashes and make it sustainable. Even though the Jayhawks didn't bring anyone in during the spring window and lost two players, the offseason altogether was a success for Kansas.
The three big losses the Jayhawks suffered last season come from teams that are still in the conference this season. They will need to figure out how to beat those teams in order to be at the top of the Big 12 for the first time in a long time.
