Last Week: 3

Since dropping back-to-back games a few weeks ago, Houston has locked in. The Cougars have won four straight and have done it with their defense. Houston has the top-ranked defense in the Big 12 and the nation.

Houston, like Iowa State, is undefeated at home, but they are showing they don't have to be at home to win games. I would say if I have to pick a team to win the Big 12, this is who I am picking. Houston's defense is simply so dominant, that they don't even have to light up the scoreboard. I don't see anyone being able to stop them going forward.

The Cougars faced some adversity early in conference play, but they are locked in and they are not going to let anyone take this away from them. They are rolling over opponents and that is why they are the new No. 1 in this week's power rankings.
