Every Kansas State fan knows that Deuce Vaughn can run the ball with the best of them, but the Cowboys are looking to use him in a new role.

After being drafted in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Vaughn was used in a limited role in the 2023 season and even ended up on the injured reserve list at the end of the season.

Since the Cowboys did not do much in free agency this offseason, it looks like Vaughn has been taking reps with the wide receivers in the slot position. Vaughn did say that this was something he and offensive coordinator Brian Shottenheimer talked about since the end of last season.

Vaughn did have plays at slot receiver when he played at Kansas State, so this new position shouldn't be anything new for Vaughn. In three years at Kansas State, Vaughn had 1,280 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

This is not to say that Vaughn will be the new starting wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, but it does make him a more versatile player for Shottenheimer and the Cowboys.

Vaughn could also see a slight uptick in his touches at running back with the Cowboys losing a couple of running backs and not bringing in a lot of names. Ezekial Elliott joined the Cowboys for his second stint this offseason, but his production is the reason the team let him go. If Vaughn can outproduce Elliott, he could see the field even more both in the running back position and now in the wide receiver position.
