3 Kansas State transfer portal finds to watch in the fall
Kansas State may not have brought in the highest number of players from the transfer portal this offseason, but head coach Chris Klieman likes to focus on quality, not quantity.
Not all of the transfers that chose Kansas State will play this season, but there are some that should get immediate playing time and hopefully make an impact on the team. There are some players that should make an immediate impact with their presence.
With fall camps starting and the season less than a month away, here are three players Wildcat fans should be on the lookout for this fall.
Easton Kilty should be able to come in a take over the left tackle position on the offensive line. With the majority of the offensive line leaving Kansas State after last season either for the NFL or for graduation, Kilty comes in at just the right time.
Kilty is physical and has the experience of playing on the line to help protect Avery Johnson at the quarterback position. He should also be helpful in the run game, something K-State has always been known for. Klieman praised Kilty during spring practices saying he was definitely a part of the rotation for the offensive line.
Dylan Edwards was one of the later commitments from the portal this offseason. However, the young transfer was one of the bigger stories this offseason, not just for his great play, but for his relationship with one member of the team, Avery Johnson.
Johnson and Edwards grew up playing football together and Edwards admitted a big reason he chose the Wildcats was because of Johnson. Edwards may not be the starter this season, but he should be slated to be the man behind Giddens and get a good amount of touches, along with being used in the passing game, showing the chemistry between old friends.
Dante Cephas might be one of the biggest transfers Kansas State got this offseason mainly because of the position he plays. Kansas State lost a big piece of their receiving game this past offseason with tight end Ben Sinnott going to the NFL.
Cephas did not have show-stopping numbers at Penn State, but the four seasons he spent at Kent State were amazing. If Cephas can show the player who played at Kent State, then he could be the No. 1 receiver for the Wildcats this season. With Johnson throwing the ball, Cephas could have a big season and he is definitely one to watch this fall.
