Biggest Loss

I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this because they are ready to see Avery Johnson lead this team. I am also ready for that, but Johnson is going to need time to develop. He has a lot of raw talent, but he is young and needs to learn how to play more at the college level. So, in turn, losing Will Howard is a big loss for this Kansas State team.

Will Howard announced that he was entering the transfer portal shortly after the 2023 season ended. Weeks later he announced he was going to Ohio State, a program known for producing great quarterbacks, most recently CJ Stroud.

Howard played every game in 2023, and yes there were some games he switched on and off possesions with Johnson. However, Howard still threw for 2,643 yards and 25 touchdowns and rushed for 351 yards on 81 attempts and nine touchdowns. So Howard was responsible for 34 touchdowns during the 2023 season.

I don't care what anyone says, Howard is a player Kansas State will miss going forward. Johnson could very well come out and be a super-star next season, but I say again, he is young. Johnson will show his youth and inexperience from time to time and fans will wish now and then that they still had Howard.
