Kansas State women's basketball took care of business in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament against UCF after what was a little too close of a first quarter. After the first quarter, the Wildcats settled into their offense and lockdown defense and were able to pull away enough to where the Knights never fully were a threat again. The 80-65 victory over UCF kept Kansas State undefeated against the Orlando team, ending their season.
Now, K-State will face a much different test as they face a West Virginia team that they are just 9-19 again overall in their series history. The Wildcats lost their matchup against the Mountaineers earlier this season 70-57, not the best outing for Kansas State as they allowed West Virginia star JJ Quinerly to drop 26 points on them. They also allowed Kyah Watson to get 15 boards in that matchup, almost half of the Mountaineers rebounds in that game.
The Wildcats will need to rely on their solid defense today, as their shots will start to fall once they get good looks. Serena Sundell will need to work the ball inside, even without star player Ayoka Lee not on the court yet again today. Three-point shooting will also be a huge help to Kansas State as they shot just 25% from deep in this last matchup against West Virginia.
