Nothing is done, but the two sides are now working through a deal that will make Alexander the Wildcats' next head coach.
Alexander spent seven seasons with the Bruins, first in 2019. During that span, he went 166-60 as the program's head coach and made his last NCAA tournament appearance back in 2018.His career record currently sits at 303-180.
The Wildcats' season ended on Tuesday night after a loss in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament to the BYU Cougars. Interim head coach Matthew Driscoll, who took over for former head coach Jerome Tang, ended the year 2-5 in his place.
The Wildcats opened conference play 0-5 for the first time in almost three decades. Kansas State was a staggering 1-11 at the time of Tang's departure. The team's last tournament appearance came in 2023.
Alexander previously coached at Lipscomb in 2019, making a run all the way to the NIT Championship game. The job is set to become the first Power Five coaching role of his career.
