Kansas State is heading into a new era, the Matthew Driscoll era, as the Wildcats played their final game unknowingly under Jerome Tang on Saturday vs. No. 3 Houston. The game was certainly closer than many expected with how K-State has played as of late and the caliber of the Cougars' team, but alas, the administration decided to pull the trigger on Tang's firing.

While many are focusing on the drama of Tang being fired for cause and whether or not he will receive his buyout, K-State still has six regular-season games left to play. For those final six games, associate head coach Matthew Driscoll is set to take over as the interim head coach, and yes, the same Matthew Driscoll from the gif below.

Kansas State will play its first game under Driscoll on Tuesday against Baylor, which just so happens to be Tang's former team before he was hired by the Wildcats. With Driscoll taking over, let's take a look at where he has been before.

This season is Driscoll's first in Manhattan after he spent 16 seasons as the head basketball coach at North Florida, leading the Ospreys to 246 wins. Driscoll was not only the winningest head coach in North Florida basketball history, but also Atlantic Sun Conference history.

Driscoll's coaching experience isvast at the age of 61, coaching at the high school, junior college, Division I, and II levels. There was hope that Driscoll's coming to Kansas State would help improve the offense, and it has worked, just maybe not as much as fans would have liked. K-State's offense was once ranked 125th and has since moved up to 93rd this season.

Driscoll was once at Baylor as well, hence the connection to Tang, and now he will make his head coaching debut with a power conference team against his former head coach, Scott Drew. This could be a chance for Driscoll to make an impression on the administration, maybe even to throw his hat in the ring for the permanent position.
