The San Francisco 49ers have signed former Kansas State wide receiver Malik Knowles to a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.

Knowles, 24, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2023, initially signing with the Minnesota Vikings. He later spent time with the Green Bay Packers but did not appear in a regular-season game.

A versatile playmaker at Kansas State, Knowles appeared in 51 games (39 starts) from 2018 to 2022.

He finished his college career with 127 receptions for 1,867 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also adding 440 rushing yards and four scores on the ground. He was a key contributor on special teams, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors as a kick returner in 2021.

A native of Mansfield, Texas, Knowles joins a San Francisco receiving corps that includes Brandon Aiyuk, who is currently rehabbing from an offseason injury. With Aiyuk's status still being monitored ahead of training camp, Knowles could see extended opportunities to showcase his skills this summer.

Known for his speed and versatility, Knowles gives the 49ers additional depth at wide receiver and special teams as they gear up for the 2025 season. He’ll compete for a spot on the 53-man roster in a crowded but competitive group.

The signing reflects San Francisco’s continued emphasis on speed and flexibility across its offensive and return units.
