K-State’s growing MLB pipeline added two more names Monday as Maximus Martin and Jacob Frost were taken in the 10th round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the Red Sox and Dodgers.

Martin, a First Team All-Region pick and Second Team All-Big 12 honoree, was selected No. 298 overall by Boston.

The junior shortstop hit .320 with 18 doubles and 14 home runs—tied for the fourth-most in a single season in program history. His .420 on-base percentage and .612 slugging mark helped power the Wildcats to a 32–26 record and their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

Frost, a junior left-hander from St. Louis, was taken No. 315 overall by Los Angeles.

He struck out 75 batters in 2025 while holding opponents to a .238 batting average—eighth-best in the Big 12. He led the league with 22 strikeouts looking in conference play, added three quality starts, and helped deliver K-State’s ninth no-hitter in program history in 2024.

He finished his two-year stint in Manhattan with a 4–6 record, 6.49 ERA, and 115 strikeouts in 32 appearances (23 starts). He’s one of two Wildcats this season to notch 10 strikeouts in a game, hitting that mark against rival Kansas.

Under head coach Pete Hughes, now in his seventh year at K-State, the program has seen 12 players drafted in the top 10 rounds.

Hughes has coached 91 MLB Draft picks and recruited 145 future pros over his 28-year career, including eight first-rounders.

Martin is just the second K-State player ever drafted by the Red Sox, joining Robert Youngdahl (2011). Frost becomes the ninth Wildcat taken by the Dodgers.

Kansas State’s season ended in the Austin Regional, where it sandwiched a win over Houston Christian between losses to UTSA and Texas.

The offseason has already brought change, with several Wildcats entering the transfer portal, including slugger Seth Dardar, who committed to hometown LSU.
