Freshman wide receiver Zayden Martinez has announced that he is entering the transfer portal via a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Martinez, a 6-foot-4 inch walk-on did not record any stats last season. His transfer comes before a reported shrinking of rosters across the NCAA.
"First and foremost I'd like to give all glory to God for blessing me with the opportunity to play football at the next level. Next, I'd like to thank the entire Kansas State coaching staff for giving me an opportunity to work and be a part of the K-State family. To all my teammates, thank you for bringing me into a brotherhood like no other. I will forever cherish the memories made and relationships I've built throughout the last year in Manhattan. With that being said, I will be entering transfer portal with four years of eligibility remaining. I am open to all levels."

Martinez despite his size is also another receiver who did not appear to be one in the rotation for 2025. The team added several players this past offseason to revamp the receiver room. The team was adamant about adding more quality targets for budding star Avery Johnson.
It'll be interesting to see where Martinez winds up, as someone with his athletic gifts could be highly sought after.
Last year, the team finished 9-4 overall and 5-4 in conference play, despite being picked as a preseason favorite. They defeated Rutgers 44-41 in their bowl game on Dec. 26.
