Kansas State gets set for another conference matchup on Saturday, this time on the road against No. 3 Houston.
The Wildcats (10-14, 1-10 Big 12) are in search of their first win since Jan. 20, currently sitting on a five game losing streak.
Last time out
Kansas State lost its last game 91-62 at home against the Cincinnati Bearcats. It was their second-worst home loss of conference play trailing only the 95-61 loss on Feb. 1 to then-No. 8 Iowa State.
Against the Bearcats, K-State fell behind early, trailing by more than 20 points with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Combine red-hot three-point shooting from Cincinnati with a low-scoring K-State attack, and you get the equivalent of Wednesday’s game.
PJ Haggerty ended the game 11-18 with 24 points, three times higher than David Castillo, the team’s second-leading scorer who finished with eight. Castillo’s night ended with 31 minutes and 3 of 12 shooting from the floor.Â
What the analytics say
The Wildcats have lost their last two games to Houston by a combined 52 points. Their last win over the Cougars (22-2, 10-1 Big 12) was a 91-90 victory back in 1974.
According to ESPN Analytics, it doesn’t look good for K-State. The WIldcats were given just a 3.4% chance by the matchup predictor.
Wildcats’ projected starting lineup
PJ Haggerty (G), Nate Johnson (G), David Castillo (G), Taj Manning (F), Khamari McGriff (F)
Marcus Johnson, Dorin Buca and C.J. Jones are also expected to be available, and could find their way into the starting lineup.Â
Where to watch
The game will stream on Peacock at 3 p.m. CT.
