Kansas State is making an early move in the 2027 recruiting cycle, extending an offer to Arkansas standout Mason Ball.

Ball, a 6-1, 190-pound athlete out of Jacksonville High School (Ark.), announced the offer on social media.

The sophomore posted over 1,000 total yards this past season while lining up at both running back and wide receiver. He also played safety.

The Wildcats are the third Power Four program to offer Ball, joining Arkansas and Purdue. His size-speed combo and ability to impact the game both as a runner and pass catcher have quickly made him one of the more intriguing prospects in the region.

Kansas State’s early pitch could be a key play in building a long-term relationship. With the rise of NIL and the transfer portal, initial contact—even if it doesn’t lead to an early commitment—can pay off down the line.

Ball’s frame and play style fit the Wildcats’ recent mold at the position. K-State has had success developing versatile backs, and Ball could be next in line.

For now, the Wildcats are in solid shape at running back. Dylan Edwards and Joe Jackson are expected to carry the load in 2025, and transfer Antonio Martin Jr. adds size and depth. But with injuries and roster movement always looming in the Big 12, Kansas State continues to build for the future.

The Cats are coming off a 9–4 season in 2024, capped by a wild 44–41 bowl win over Rutgers. K-State also saw starting RB DJ Giddens selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft after back-to-back 1,200-yard seasons.

With Ball’s stock on the rise, K-State is hoping this early offer pays dividends down the road.
