The Kansas State Wildcats outplayed Oklahoma State in the second half and won their 14th game of the season 96-88.
On Wednesday night, Bruce Weber’s team sent an emphatic message to the fans in Manhattan. Weber is a good coach and this 2016-17 squad is mentally tough.
This was the first time the Wildcats faced former Kansas State Alum Brad Underwood.
The Wildcats had not won in Stillwater since 2012. Oklahoma State has yet to win a Big 12 game this season.
Jawun Evans hit a big 3 to open the game and the ‘Pokes were off and running. The Wildcats struggled to keep up but did.
I was concerned when with 7 minutes until halftime, three OSU players Evans, Hamonds and Carroll had 32 points and K-State had only 31.
But despite giving up 9 first half triples, the Wildcats only trailed the ‘Pokes by 3 at the break.
The Wildcats had a very sloppy start to the 2nd half. They were facing fatigue and possible foul trouble but slowed the game down.
Once Kansas State got the lead they didn’t give it back.
Barry Brown had a monster game with 22 points in 37 minutes.
D.J. Johnson contributed 18 points, 6 rebounds and stayed out of foul trouble.

Wesley Iwundu’s leadership with 15 points and 8 big rebounds was huge.
Isaiah Maurice and Carlbe Ervin also provided positive minutes off the bench.
The 96 points were the most for a Weber Wildcat team in Big 12 play.
There is no update on the injury to Kamau Stokes.
The ‘Cats will need him healthy for Saturday’s game against ‘Press” Virginia.
