Jug Of News (06.22.12)

Welcome to our humble abode. Pull up a seat and grab a glass for a sip from today’s Jug of News. Hit the jump for JOS taking a look at the new college football playoff, Coach Snyder getting the boys feeling disrespected, our KSU Olympic hopefuls chasing their dreams, and Brady Bauman using Katy Perry to get through the day.

As was reported in yesterday’s Jug Of News, the conference commissioners (and Notre Dame’s Jack Swarbrick) have agreed on a format for a 4-team college football playoff. The only step left is approval by the college presidents, which is most likely just a rubber stamp. As such, we took a look yesterday, at what the new tournament will look like. Over at CBSSports.com, Brett McMurphy answers any and all questions you can possibly think of about the new playoff system.

Also in the football vein, Coach Snyder is playing the disrespect card. Early outlooks, immediately after KSU’s 10-3 campaign in 2011 had the Cats ranked fairly high. More recent polls have us more in the 30-40 range. As D. Scott Fritchen reports over at GPC, Coach Snyder is using this to his advantage.

The U.S. Olympic Trials have begun. K-State has 3 current athletes, as well as 2 former ones, competing for spots on the team. Have a look at the preview posted here yesterday. Ryann Krais, Alyx Treasure, and Erik Kynard are the current Wildcats attempting to land a spot on the U.S. team for the 2012 London Olympics.

Finally, Brady Bauman’s second edition of “Bill Snyder Laughed SO Hard…” was posted yesterday morning. In this installment, Brady finds himself unable to get through the day without the faithful assistance of the one-and-only Katy Perry. Hilarious, informative, and well worth the read, Brady’s work for JOS thus far has been fantastically funny.
